Free Summer Meals Available for Idaho Children Through 2025 USDA Program

BOISE, ID – With summer break underway, the Idaho Department of Education is reminding families that free meals are available to children across the state through the 2025 Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).

Funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the program provides free, nutritious meals to children aged 1 to 18 at designated meal sites—primarily in areas with the greatest need. No income requirements or registration are necessary to participate.

In 2024, over 900,000 meals and snacks were distributed at more than 260 locations across Idaho. The program is expected to maintain similar service levels this summer.

New for 2025, select rural sites will offer a “Meals To Go” option, allowing children to pick up food and consume it offsite. These locations are indicated on the USDA’s meal site locator.

Families can find their nearest summer meal site by visiting www.fns.usda.gov/summer/sitefinder and entering their address or ZIP code. Alternatively, assistance is available by calling the Idaho Care Line at 2-1-1.
