MOSCOW, ID — A major infrastructure project is set to begin Monday, June 23, 2025, as the City of Moscow starts work on the Alley West of Main Street Sewer Project. The project aims to replace aging sewer lines, install new manholes, and reconnect existing sewer services, with completion anticipated by September 23.
The construction will impact traffic and pedestrian access in the downtown area. Portions of Sixth Street between Main and Jackson Streets will be closed at times, and sidewalk access along the north side of Sixth Street will be periodically restricted. Drivers and pedestrians should plan for detours and possible delays throughout the project.
The South Jackson Street parking lot will be closed in phases during construction. To help alleviate the parking shortage, the Moscow Urban Renewal Agency has granted temporary access to the lot at the southeast corner of Sixth and Jackson.
The City of Moscow advises that project timelines may shift due to unforeseen circumstances. Residents with concerns about access or construction impacts may contact Bob Buvel, Senior Civil Engineer, at (208) 883-7031 or bbuvel@ci.moscow.id.us. For ADA accessibility concerns, call (208) 883-7600. For after-hours emergencies, contact Public Works at (208) 310-6164.
City officials thank the community for its patience as work moves forward to improve essential sewer infrastructure.
