Spokane County Detectives Arrest 27-Time Convicted Felon in String of Construction Site Burglaries

SPOKANE, WA – A 49-year-old man with an extensive criminal history has been arrested and charged in connection to a series of construction site burglaries in Spokane County. Spokane County Investigative Unit (SCIU) detectives arrested Shawn C. Wallwork following an investigation that linked him to multiple thefts across the area, resulting in thousands of dollars in stolen materials and damages.

According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, detectives began investigating after two burglaries were reported in May. On May 7, a North Spokane County business reported approximately $3,750 worth of lumber, OSB sheets, and siding stolen. On May 27, a Spokane Valley site suffered $3,000 in losses and $800 in damages after a suspect cut through fencing and disabled surveillance cameras.

SCIU detectives, aided by Real-Time Crime Center analysts, identified Wallwork and obtained a search warrant for his home and a job site. On June 2, Wallwork was taken into custody during a traffic stop, and his vehicle was seized. Detectives then searched his residence on S. Felts Road and a job site near E. 7th Avenue and S. Sherman Street.

Wallwork was initially booked into Spokane County Jail on four felony charges—two counts of second-degree theft and two counts of second-degree burglary. Detectives later connected him to another burglary near E. Francis Avenue and N. Florida Street, where over $13,000 in construction materials were reportedly stolen and more than $2,300 in damages occurred. He now faces additional charges, including first-degree theft, second-degree burglary, and second-degree malicious mischief.

Wallwork has a long criminal record, including 27 felony convictions for crimes such as burglary, theft, money laundering, malicious mischief, possession of stolen vehicles, retail theft, unlawful possession of a firearm, and assault.

He is being held on a $20,000 bond, with charges also pending from a separate arrest in May 2024 for theft, possession of stolen property, and trafficking in stolen goods. Authorities say Wallwork had been released on his own recognizance at that time.

The investigation remains ongoing.
