CENTRAL WASHINGTON — A Red Flag Warning has been issued for portions of Central Washington, including the foothills of the Cascades and the Waterville Plateau, as hot, dry, and breezy conditions increase the risk of fire spread early this week.
According to Washington State Fire Wire, the warning is in effect from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on both Monday and Tuesday. Forecasters expect temperatures in the 80s and 90s, with west to northwest winds reaching 10 to 20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph. Relative humidity levels are forecasted to drop between 15% and 25%.
The affected areas include:
-
Fire Weather Zone 705: Foothills of the Central Washington Cascades
-
Fire Weather Zone 706: Waterville Plateau
These conditions may lead to rapid fire growth, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. Fire officials urge the public to avoid activities that could spark fires and to report any signs of smoke immediately.
