CLARKSTON, WA – A coalition of groups, including the Asotin County Democrats, Nez Perce Democrats, and Indivisible are set to gather on Saturday, June 14, from noon to 2 pm to “voice opposition to Trump’s imperialistic policies and authoritarian actions,” says a press release.
The rally will be held on the corner of 5th Street and Bridge Street in Clarkston.
Carmela Conroy is expected to attend Saturday’s rally. Conroy is seeking the Democratic nomination for Washington’s Fifth Congressional District to run against Republican Rep. Michael Baumgarter.
The rally is part of a “No Kings” series of demonstrations being held all over the country.
“People are gathering on June 14 to express their disagreement and anger about the Trump regime’s long list of actions including violating the rule of law, eliminating due process, defying the courts and Congress, and eliminating work to ensure diversity, equity and inclusion,” said Becky Eklund, Chair of the Asotin County Democrats.
A canned food drive is also planned at the event for “local food banks to assist those citizens most-seriously affected by this administration’s deep cuts to social programs,” says the release.
