WASHINGTON, D.C — The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced today that it has reconstituted the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), removing all 17 current members and initiating a complete replacement of the panel.

The decision, announced by HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., follows an executive order from President Donald Trump titled Restoring Gold Standard Science, which aims to bolster transparency and scientific integrity within federal health agencies.

ACIP, which advises the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on vaccine recommendations, is central to shaping public immunization policies. According to HHS, the new appointments are intended to ensure the committee’s guidance is grounded in “credible, reliable, and impartial scientific evidence.”

All members removed from the committee were appointed during the Biden administration, with the majority—13 of 17—appointed in 2024. HHS stated that the timing of those appointments would have limited the current administration’s influence on the committee until at least 2028.

“This action is focused on rebuilding public trust,” Kennedy said in a statement, adding that the new committee would not serve as a “rubber stamp for industry profit-taking agendas.”

The newly formed ACIP is expected to convene for its next meeting from June 25 to June 27 at CDC headquarters in Atlanta.

The department has not yet released the names of the incoming members.
