LEWISTON, ID – Idaho Fish and Game has announced the closure of adult Chinook salmon fishing on the lower Salmon River, effective Monday, June 9, with additional closures in the Clearwater River Basin to begin at the end of fishing hours on Friday, June 13.
The Clearwater River closures apply to the mainstem from Cherrylane Bridge to Orofino Bridge and the North Fork Clearwater River. However, the Little Salmon River will remain open for Chinook fishing four days a week—Thursday through Sunday.
Anglers are urged to review the most current Chinook Salmon Seasons and Rules online, as regulations are subject to change rapidly depending on fish returns and harvest limits.
This announcement follows prior seasonal adjustments by the Idaho Fish and Game Commission in May, aimed at managing Chinook harvest levels across key river systems.
