Manhunt for Travis Decker Expands as Authorities Track Suspect Near Blewett Pass

CHELAN COUNTY, WA – Authorities are continuing their large-scale search for Travis C. Decker, the suspect wanted in connection with the kidnapping and murder of his three children, as law enforcement teams believe they are actively tracking his movements in the Blewett Pass and Highway 97 area.

Chelan County court filings reveal that Decker failed to return his children—ages five, eight, and nine—after a scheduled visitation beginning May 30, 2025. When he missed multiple return deadlines and could not be reached, the children’s mother, Whitney Decker, reported them missing. Law enforcement launched a search, ultimately locating Decker’s abandoned vehicle on June 2 at Rock Island Campground. The bodies of the three children were found nearby, each with a plastic bag over their head and signs of restraint. The Chelan County Coroner later confirmed all three died by asphyxiation.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Decker on three counts of Murder in the First Degree, three counts of Kidnapping in the First Degree, and Custodial Interference.

The search for Decker, who is considered armed and dangerous, has since expanded. The U.S. Border Patrol is now leading the manhunt, with support from the U.S. Marshals Service and regional agencies. Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison said CCSO detectives remain actively engaged, processing evidence and tracking new leads. The East Cascade SWAT Team and local deputies have contributed hundreds of hours to the search.

On June 10, the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office reported that a hiking party spotted a lone hiker matching Decker’s description in the Enchantments area, appearing well-equipped for backcountry travel. Tracking teams believe he is attempting to navigate rugged terrain between the Alpine Lakes Wilderness and the Highway 97 corridor, possibly moving toward the Ingalls Creek Trail.

Residents and outdoor recreationists in the area are urged to remain vigilant. Authorities emphasize that anyone who sees Decker should not approach him, but instead call 911 immediately. The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading directly to Decker’s arrest. Tips can be submitted at 1-800-336-0102 or online at www.usmarshals.gov/tips.

Sheriff Morrison and a representative from the U.S. Marshals Service are scheduled to give a public update at a press conference on the steps of the Chelan County Courthouse at 4 p.m. on June 11.
