ALBION, WA – An effort is underway to rehome dozens of dogs that have been living at a home in Albion.
The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office learned of the situation last month. Deputies determined that there are about 50 dogs living at an Albion residence which is illegal under city code. Sheriff Brett Myers says the dogs are in good health and being cared for by the two owners that live in the home. Many of them are puppies or small dogs.
A deputy has been working with the owners to rehome the dogs for adoption so the residents can be in compliance with Albion law. Paws and Claws Pet Rescue in Pasco is leading the effort to find new owners for the dogs. Sheriff Myers says a deputy is picking up several dogs a week with cooperation from their current owners. He believes this approach is the most effective when the dogs are in good health and the owners are cooperating. You can listen to Sheriff Myers with the file below.
A GoFundMe page has been established to help cover the costs of rehoming the dogs.
