RIGGINS, ID – A Riggins man was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash Sunday evening after his vehicle left the roadway and plunged down a steep embankment along French Creek Road.
According to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, dispatch received an SOS alert around 5:45 p.m. on June 8 from the International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC), reporting a crash approximately 4.5 miles east of the Big Salmon Road.
Deputies responded to the remote location and found the vehicle had veered off the right side of the road, struck rocks, and rolled several times down the mountainside. The driver and sole occupant, identified as 49-year-old Thomas Clay of Riggins, was ejected during the crash and died from his injuries.
The Idaho County Coroner confirmed Clay’s identity at the scene.
The sheriff’s office extended condolences to Thomas’ family in the wake of the incident.
