Scam Alert Issued by Idaho County Sheriff’s Office Over Impersonation Calls

GRANGEVILLE, ID – The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about an ongoing phone scam involving a caller falsely claiming to be a sheriff’s officer.

According to the department, individuals have reported receiving phone calls from someone identifying himself as an officer from the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office. The caller reportedly asked the recipient to answer a series of jury-related questions and insisted that the two meet in person, alone. During the call, the scammer instructed the recipient to stay on the line until they could meet.

Authorities emphasize that the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office and Idaho County District Court do not contact residents by phone regarding jury summons or related questions. Any such communication is handled through official channels and will not involve unsolicited phone calls.

Residents who receive such calls are urged not to share any personal information. The sheriff’s office advises hanging up immediately and blocking the number.
