UCON, ID – A 76-year-old man from Box Elder, South Dakota, was killed in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 20, according to Idaho State Police.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:28 p.m. on June 11, 2025, near milepost 316, just east of Ucon. Authorities say a 2023 Nissan Rogue traveling westbound went off the right shoulder of the highway and struck a tree.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A 72-year-old female passenger, also from Box Elder, was taken by ground ambulance to a hospital in Idaho Falls for treatment. Both occupants were wearing seat belts, and the vehicle’s airbags deployed.
The incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
