Nez Perce County Sheriff Receives Idaho’s Highest Law Enforcement Certificate

MERIDIAN, ID – The Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Division has awarded Nez Perce County Sheriff Bryce Scrimsher the POST Executive Certificate, the highest certification available to peace officers in the state of Idaho.

Sheriff Scrimsher began his law enforcement career in 1999 as a detention deputy with the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office. He later moved to the patrol division, where he worked to reduce the availability of methamphetamine manufacturing precursors through the federally funded Byrne grant. Working with the FBI and Idaho State Police, Scrimsher helped identify and dismantle illegal drug labs, contributing to the conviction of several offenders.

In 2003, Scrimsher joined the Lewiston Police Department, and in 2005, transitioned to the Idaho State Police. He served in the agency’s Investigations division beginning in 2008, focusing on narcotics and major crime cases.

Scrimsher returned to Nez Perce County in 2020 when he was elected sheriff. He is currently serving his second term. Throughout his career, he has earned multiple POST certifications, including Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, and Management, culminating in this latest Executive-level recognition.

The Executive Certificate is awarded to peace officers who demonstrate leadership, experience, and continued commitment to professional development. According to POST officials, the certificate will be formally presented to Sheriff Scrimsher on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.

POST certifies approximately 1,800 Idaho criminal justice professionals each year and operates out of its headquarters in Meridian.

Sheriff Scrimsher’s recognition marks a milestone in a career spanning more than two decades, reflecting his dedication to public safety and the residents of Nez Perce County.
