YAKIMA, WA– A homicide investigation is underway following a fatal shooting reported Friday morning on Pleasant Avenue, according to the Yakima Police Department.

Officers responded to the 1200 block of Pleasant Avenue at approximately 9:15 a.m. where they discovered a 66-year-old man deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. A short time later, a person matching the suspect’s description was located near the scene and confirmed to be involved in the incident.

Police said the 38-year-old male suspect and the victim lived on the same property but in separate structures. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident and has been booked into the Yakima County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder.

Authorities emphasized there is no ongoing threat to the public, describing the situation as an isolated event contained to the property where it occurred.
