COLTON, WA – A burn ban is now in effect for canyon areas within Whitman County Fire District #14 along the Snake River.

Fire Chief Jason Reisenauer enacted the ban on June 10, prohibiting open burning from Wawawai Canyon to the Idaho state line. The local restriction coincides with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ seasonal burn ban along the Snake River corridor, also in place from June 10 through October 10.

The burn ban will remain in effect through October 10 or until further notice.
