BOISE, ID – Despite ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran that initially unsettled global oil markets, gas prices in Idaho have held steady over the past week, according to AAA Idaho.

As of Monday, the average price for a gallon of regular in the Gem State remains at $3.29—unchanged from both a week and a month ago. Compared to this time last year, prices are down by 29 cents.

Nationwide, the average sits at $3.14 per gallon—up two cents from last week but still five cents lower than a month ago and nearly 31 cents less than a year ago.

“While there has been significant turmoil in the Middle East, we haven’t seen the end of it. But so far, things haven’t escalated to the point where the crude oil supply chain has been significantly affected,” said AAA Idaho public affairs director Matthew Conde. “We were already beginning to see some price movement just based on demand, and we’ll see how things go this week.”

Idaho currently ranks ninth-highest in the nation for average fuel costs. States with higher prices include California ($4.65), Hawaii ($4.47), Washington ($4.37), Oregon ($3.99), Nevada ($3.80), Alaska ($3.65), Illinois ($3.44), and Pennsylvania ($3.30).

The West Texas Intermediate (WTI) benchmark for crude oil is trading near $71 per barrel—roughly $9 more than a month ago. Since crude oil accounts for more than half the cost of finished gasoline, sustained increases could eventually impact pump prices.
