Interim Tag Lifted – Soderberg Continues to Build Warrior Dance and Cheer

LEWISTON, ID – Coach Sydnee Soderberg lifted LC State Dance to new heights in 2025 and will look to do the same as she continues to build the future of Warrior Dance and Cheer. Soderberg will continue as the head coach of both programs after having the interim tag lifted from her title.

“After seeing the remarkable progress made in her first few months, we knew quickly that Sydnee was the right person to lead LC State Dance and Cheer into this new era of Warrior Athletics,” Assistant Athletic Director Alisha Alexander said. “She brings a passion and energy that lends itself to building programs from the ground up, and we cannot wait to see her continue to lead these teams into the national spotlight.”

Soderberg led Warrior Dance to its first competitive victory in a dual against Carroll (Mont.), and highest team score (76.1) in its second year of competition. The Lewiston native also orchestrated the first home competition in program history. Under Soderberg, the dance program has three Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete honorees.

“I absolutely loved coaching this program this season,” Soderberg said. “We definitely faced some hurdles getting up and running, but problem-solved quickly to have a successful season. This team of young women is incredibly hard working, and I appreciate their patience through the season. They were helpful when they needed to be, supportive to each other and to me as a new coach, and they helped lay the foundation for the future of Warrior Dance. I am super excited to step into a more permanent role with LC State, and I believe that this program will continue growing and thriving. This community has been so supportive in my efforts to grow this program, and I could not be more thankful for all the opportunities we have had this season.”

Along with continuing to build LC State Dance, Soderberg has set the framework for the next varsity sport, competitive cheer. The Warriors performed on the sidelines of volleyball, basketball and baseball in 2024-25 and will begin preparing for its first competitive season in 2026-27. Soderberg, who won a national championship as a member of Boise State’s spirit squad, has grown the roster to double digits as the inaugural season nears.

“I am super excited to get Warrior Cheer started here at LC State,” Soderberg said. “Cheerleading is a huge sport in this area, and I am so happy that LC State recognizes amazing things that cheerleading can offer to this institution. The addition of cheerleading will provide so many opportunities to student-athletes, including athletes in other sports. Being able to be supportive of LC athletics on the sidelines is truly an incredible experience. Warrior Cheer is aiming to be competitive at the NAIA level in the 2026-27 season, and we cannot wait to put Warrior Cheer on the map.”
