IDAHO COUNTY, ID – A collaborative response between multiple law enforcement agencies early Tuesday morning led to the safe recovery of a woman in distress and the arrest of a male suspect in Idaho County.
According to the Idaho State Police (ISP), the incident began around 4:00 a.m. when the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a woman had entered a local business and told a cashier she needed help before leaving.
A nearby ISP trooper located the woman shortly after and learned that she had been drugged and transported from Oregon by a man who lives locally. She reported being held against her will at a residence in the area.
Law enforcement developed probable cause and, with assistance from the ISP SWAT team, arrested the suspect without incident.
Agencies involved in the response included the Idaho State Police, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, and the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office.
“This was a strong example of what can happen when agencies work together quickly and effectively,” said ISP Lieutenant Darren Gilbertson. “The safety of the victim was our top priority, and we’re proud of how all the involved personnel responded.”
The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are not releasing additional information at this time to protect the integrity of the case.
