UMATILLA, OR. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Walla Walla District, has awarded a $2 million construction contract to MacNak Construction LLC for a road reconstruction project near McNary Dam and Lock.
Announced on June 6, the project includes rebuilding segments of 3rd Street and Scaplehorn Road. Crews will reconstruct the roadway subbase and asphalt layers, install new pavement markings, and add updated signage. The improvements will cover 3rd Street from Scaplehorn Road to Devore Road, and Scaplehorn Road from just south of 3rd Street to the Laydown Yard gravel access road.
Construction is scheduled to begin in early July and continue through August, with temporary road closures expected in the affected areas during the work period.
