Spokane Valley Road Rage Escalates to Gunfire, No Injuries Reported

SPOKANE VALLEY, WA – Deputies with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a reported shooting that may have stemmed from a road rage incident Monday morning on East 37th Avenue.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to the area near the 5000 block of E. 37th Avenue around 9:00 a.m. on June 16. An adult female reported that while she was driving her green Toyota 4Runner, she believed someone shot at her vehicle.

The woman told deputies she had been following a small, light-gray sedan eastbound from S. Regal Street. The sedan slowed to about 20 mph near a school, and although she thought the driver was observing a school zone, the flashing sign was not active. She admitted she may have been following too closely.

As they neared S. Aldo Road, the sedan pulled over. The woman said that as she passed, she saw the male driver pointing a handgun at her. She continued driving and heard a noise on the passenger side of her vehicle, which she initially assumed was from a BB gun.

After pulling over safely, she inspected the vehicle and discovered a hole in the passenger door that appeared to be caused by a bullet. She was not injured in the incident.

Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect or the vehicle. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 30 to 40 years old, heavy-set, with dirty blonde semi-long hair, and wearing dark clothing. He was reportedly driving a small 4-door, light-gray sedan with Washington plates.

Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect is asked to contact Crime Check at 509-456-2233 and reference case number 10081460.
