WALLA WALLA, WA – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Walla Walla District has announced that the seasonal fire ban is now in effect at all recreation sites along the Lower Snake River, including areas near Lower Granite Lock and Dam. The ban runs from June 10 through October 10.
During this period, wood fires are prohibited in all Corps fire rings, grills, and metal containers such as barrel halves. This annual restriction is implemented to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires during the dry summer months.
Contained charcoal and propane grills remain permitted and may be used responsibly. However, fires on the ground or in rock fire rings are not allowed at any time.
Visitors are encouraged to follow posted regulations and exercise caution while recreating in Corps-managed areas.
