Road Closure on Grelle Avenue Begins June 23 for Sewer Expansion Project

LEWISTON, ID –  The City of Lewiston will begin construction Monday, June 23, on the next phase of its East Orchards Sewer Expansion project, requiring a full road closure on the 2100 block of Grelle Avenue.

Grelle Avenue will be closed from 21st Street to 22nd Street, including the intersection of Grelle Avenue and Lindsay Creek Road. The closure is expected to last approximately four weeks. After this period, the Lindsay Creek Road intersection may partially reopen. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Truck drivers are urged to avoid the area due to limited space for turning around along Lindsay Creek Road. While detours will be in place, local access to residences will remain available throughout the project.

The larger project aims to install 3,300 feet of sanitary sewer main in neighborhoods currently relying on aging or failing septic systems—some of which have been recently reported in the Grelle Avenue area. Construction is anticipated to wrap up by early November 2025.

City officials caution that travel delays are expected and that weather or unforeseen conditions may shift the construction timeline. Residents are asked to remain patient and alert during the work period.
