Washington State to Honor Fallen Firefighters in Memorial Service This Sunday

OLYMPIA, WA – The annual Washington State Fallen Firefighter’s Memorial Service will be held this Sunday, June 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. on the West Campus of the State Capitol in Olympia.

This year’s service will honor the following firefighters:

  • Lieutenant Raymond Proper Jr. of the Tacoma Fire Department

  • Deputy Fire Marshal Brian Annis-Levings of Central Pierce Fire and Rescue

  • Engineer/Paramedic Ryan Pleasants of the Walla Walla Fire Department

  • Lieutenant Leslee Smith of North Whatcom Fire and Rescue

  • Deputy Fire Marshal Phil Ferrell of the Tacoma Fire Department

  • Battalion Chief Ron Cato of Pend Oreille County Fire District #2

  • Captain Dean Warren of South County Fire

  • Pilot James Maxwell, Wildland Fire Contractor

The memorial will include a procession, a bell ceremony, plaque presentations to the families, and the hanging of embroidered ribbons on the memorial pike pole.

The State Capitol is located at 416 Sid Snyder Avenue SE, Olympia, Washington 98501.
