BOISE, ID — A 43-year-old man with multiple felony warrants was taken into custody Monday morning following a vehicle pursuit that spanned several major roads, involved a wrong-way stretch on Interstate 84, and prompted a shelter-in-place alert in a Meridian neighborhood.

At approximately 10 a.m., an Ada County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to stop a black Dodge Ram near S. Seabreeze Way and W. Lake Hazel Road. The driver, identified as Timothy Steinnon, reportedly refused to stop and fled the scene. Steinnon was known to law enforcement and had two active felony no-bond warrants for Failure to Appear, as well as ties to an aggravated battery investigation from the previous week.

The pursuit traveled east on Lake Hazel, then north on Orchard Road, west on Gowen Road, and east again on Victory Road. Deputies attempted a PIT maneuver near Victory and Orchard, but the attempt failed after the suspect’s vehicle made contact with a patrol car. The chase continued onto Interstate 84, where Steinnon began driving west in the eastbound lanes.

Deputies terminated the pursuit due to the high risk to public safety, and eastbound lanes of the interstate were quickly shut down with assistance from partnering agencies. Steinnon drove roughly seven miles in the wrong direction before exiting the interstate near Top Golf at Eagle Road, crashing through a fence and abandoning the vehicle in the area of Rolling Hill Drive in Meridian.

Initial reports suggested Steinnon might be armed, prompting a CodeRed alert to area residents advising them to shelter in place. A nearby homeowner later contacted authorities, believing the suspect had entered an outbuilding on their property.

The Ada County SWAT and Crisis Negotiations teams responded, and after a period of communication, Steinnon surrendered without incident.

Steinnon was booked on felony charges of Fleeing and Eluding and two Failure to Appear warrants, along with misdemeanor charges of Resisting and Obstructing, Unlawful Entry, and another FTA warrant. He also faces felony charges of Aggravated Battery and misdemeanor False Imprisonment related to a separate case. Authorities say additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.

The Ada County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Meridian and Boise Police Departments for their support in the incident.
