Rodent-Linked Electrical Fire Destroys RV in Southern Idaho

CASCADE, ID – A fire that destroyed an RV in Cascade on Saturday evening has been traced to an electrical failure likely caused by rodent activity, according to the Idaho State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The RV had been parked and unused for over a week when the fire broke out. An investigator determined that rodents may have damaged the electrical system, sparking the blaze.

Cascade Fire Department crews responded quickly and were able to stop the flames from spreading to nearby RVs and surrounding trees. No injuries were reported.

Authorities urge RV owners to take steps to deter rodents from entering parked vehicles. Inexpensive repellents are available online and at most sporting goods retailers.
