Sealcoat Work Begins Tuesday on US-12 East of Kooskia

KOOSKIA, ID – Starting Tuesday, June 24, the Idaho Transportation Department will begin applying sealcoats to two stretches of U.S. Highway 12 east of Kooskia to extend pavement life and improve road safety.

Crews will first work from the Lochsa Ranger Station at milepost 121 east toward White Pine River Access. Afterward, they will move to Powell at milepost 151 and continue toward Lolo Pass at milepost 167. Each section is expected to take one to two weeks to complete.

During construction, US-12 will be reduced to one lane. Flaggers will alternate traffic, and a pilot car will escort vehicles through the work zone. Drivers should plan for delays of 15 to 30 minutes and are urged to follow all posted speed limits.

Work is scheduled to be completed by the end of July. Travelers can check for traffic updates at 511.idaho.gov, dial 5-1-1, or use the Idaho 511 app.
