CLACKAMAS, OR – Detectives with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office are seeking public assistance following a brazen ATM theft that occurred early Monday morning, June 23.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a burglary report at the U.S. Bank located at 11521 SE Sunnyside Road around 4:49 a.m. When they arrived, they found a construction excavator still running and abandoned near the bank’s drive-through ATM area.
Investigators say the suspect or suspects used the excavator’s boom arm to destroy two ATMs, also causing structural damage to the bank building itself. The excavator had been stolen from a nearby construction site and driven to the scene. Authorities noted that a nearby SUV was also damaged, with a broken window.
The individuals involved had fled the scene before deputies arrived. The Sheriff’s Office, including detectives and crime scene investigators, is actively processing evidence and canvassing the area.
