LEWISTON, ID – The Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport (LWS) will conduct a full-scale emergency preparedness exercise at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025. The federally required drill is held once every three years to evaluate the airport’s emergency response capabilities.
The exercise will simulate a large-scale emergency and involve multiple agencies working together under realistic, high-pressure conditions. Participants will include firefighters, EMS personnel, law enforcement officers, airport staff, city officials, airline representatives, and other local government entities.
“This exercise ensures we’re ready to respond swiftly, decisively, and together,” said Airport Director Mike Isaacs. “That preparation can save lives.”
The public may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles and personnel around the airport during the exercise. Officials emphasize that this is only a training scenario and there is no actual emergency.
The airport thanked the community for its support and understanding as it continues to prioritize safety and readiness for the region.
