Motorcyclist Killed in Crash Northeast of Spokane; Speed and Impairment Suspected

CHATTAROY, WA – A man has died following a single-vehicle motorcycle crash Tuesday evening on North Milan Road, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the 31000 block of N. Milan Road at approximately 6:30 p.m. on June 25, where they found the rider severely injured. Bystanders had begun CPR before being relieved by first responders from Spokane County Fire District 4 and medics, who continued life-saving efforts.

The rider was transported by Life Flight to a local hospital, but he was later pronounced dead.

Preliminary findings indicate the motorcycle was heading northbound when it left the roadway, hit an embankment on the east side, and came to rest back on the roadway. No other vehicles or individuals were involved.

An alcohol container was discovered near the crash site, and investigators obtained a warrant to collect a blood sample from the rider. Deputies believe both speed and impairment were contributing factors in the crash.

The road was temporarily closed during the investigation, with assistance from the Sheriff’s SIRT Team volunteers. The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the man’s identity and official cause of death at a later time.

The crash remains under investigation.
