SPOKANE, WA – Spokane Police have arrested the mother of a man accused in the fatal shooting of 13-year-old Gavin Looper. Becky A. Gibbs, 49, was taken into custody on June 26, 2025, for first-degree rendering criminal assistance.
According to detectives with the Spokane Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit, Gibbs is accused of helping her son, Glen Dylan Burkey, leave the state following the January 25 shooting. Investigators allege that Gibbs took deliberate steps to assist Burkey after the incident, which occurred in the 2800 block of East Heroy Avenue and resulted in Looper’s death.
Burkey, 25, was located in Missoula, Montana, several days after the shooting and was extradited to Washington, where he now faces charges including first-degree murder.
Gibbs is currently being held at the Spokane County Jail. The case remains under investigation.
