PULLMAN, WA – The City of Pullman’s indoor pool is back open after being closed for over a week due to problems with the ventilation system. The Pullman Aquatic and Fitness Center’s ventilation has been fixed and the city announced Friday that the facility is back open.
Issues at the center might soon be a thing of the past for the City of Pullman as plans are moving forward to have Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories buy the facility. On Monday the Pullman School Board will consider approving a purchase and sale agreement with SEL. The Pullman School District owns the pool which was constructed 25 years ago thanks to a donation from the Schweitzer Family.
The Pullman based global company and its founder Dr. Ed Schweitzer have offered to buy the facility from the school district. SEL wants to upgrade the pool and continue operating it as a public facility.
The school board on Monday will also consider extending their current pool agreement with the City of Pullman through the rest of the year to allow more time to finalize the deal with SEL. Currently the school district owns the pool which is operated by the city.
The Pullman School Board meets for the special meeting on Monday night at 6:30 inside the high school.
