According to a probable cause affidavit, officers responded to a call around 7:16 p.m. on Saturday for a theft in progress at Walmart on 5th Street. Call notes indicated a male suspect had walked out of the store with a cart full of merchandise and began loading the items into a black sedan in the automotive center parking lot before fleeing the scene.Deputies located the vehicle near the intersection of 13th Street and Port Drive. The suspect, identified as Raymond R. Fisher, initially denied stealing and claimed he had paid for the items. He provided a receipt for a dash camera and speaker but could not account for other merchandise in the vehicle. He later admitted to stealing most of the items, stating the camera and speaker were the only items he had purchased.

While recovering the merchandise, officers discovered a case on the floorboard of the car that felt unusually heavy and appeared to be recently removed from the store. Inside, they found a large quantity of methamphetamine, along with a scale concealed inside a combination scale-calculator device, a glass pipe, and small ziplock baggies commonly used for distribution.

Fisher denied selling drugs but admitted to using the scale to avoid being “ripped off.”

The total value of the stolen merchandise was $971.05. Fisher was booked into the Asotin County Jail for Theft in the 2nd Degree and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver.
