LEWISTON, ID — The City of Lewiston is urging residents and business owners to provide final input on its proposed $25 million infrastructure bond by completing a brief community survey before the end of the day on Monday, June 30.
The city launched the survey following the bond measure’s recent failure at the polls. Although 61.82% of voters supported the proposal, it fell short of the required two-thirds supermajority by just 154 votes.
The bond aimed to fund critical upgrades to Lewiston’s aging water, sewer, and stormwater systems—improvements city officials say are vital for protecting public health and safety.
Mayor Dan Johnson emphasized the importance of community feedback moving forward.
“The City’s job now is to better understand the perspectives of our voters as we move forward in addressing the City’s infrastructure needs,” Johnson said. “This feedback will help us assess the community’s understanding of the project, priorities, and explore solutions for funding necessary improvements.”
Participation in the survey is open to all Lewiston residents and business owners, regardless of whether they voted on the bond. City officials hope the responses will inform future planning efforts and help shape a revised strategy to address long-term infrastructure needs.
