CLARKIA, ID – The Idaho Department of Lands has announced a temporary closure of Breakfast Creek Road in the Floodwood State Forest beginning Monday, July 7, 2025. The closure will last for approximately one month to allow for culvert replacement work in preparation for a future resurfacing project.
The affected section of Breakfast Creek Road runs from the junction with Floodwood Road (around mile marker 1) to the Breakfast Creek Bridge (near mile marker 10), with the closure area located near mile marker 7.5 at coordinates (46.887412’ N -115.930328’ W).
This project follows similar roadwork completed last year, which included the installation of a retaining wall. During the closure, contractors will work on installing large culverts that may limit access. Although IDL contractors will attempt to accommodate pickup and passenger vehicles at the end of each workday, daily passage is not guaranteed.
Recreational users and those needing access to Grandad Bridge are encouraged to use an alternate route through Elk River via the Elk River Aquarius Road (Diamond Road).
Signs will be posted in closed areas. The project is expected to be completed by the end of July.
