Stolen Pickup Recovered in Clarkston; Woman Booked for Vehicle Theft

CLARKSTON, WA – A woman was arrested in the early morning hours on Sunday after deputies recovered a stolen vehicle.

According to court documents, a sheriff’s deputy was on patrol when dispatch issued an alert for a red Dodge pickup reported stolen out of Garfield County. The registered owner identified the suspect as Samantha Rager.

Shortly after 2:40 a.m., the deputy located a gray Hyundai Accent associated with Rager in the area of 17th Street and Elm Street in Clarkston. The vehicle was monitored until two individuals returned and entered it. A traffic stop was conducted, and Rager and a male passenger were detained without incident.

Rager initially denied knowledge of the stolen truck but later admitted to taking it.  Officers located drug paraphernalia identified as fentanyl on the male passenger, who was taken into custody on an unrelated warrant.

Rager confirmed the key to the truck was in her possession, and deputies subsequently located the vehicle hidden nearby.

Rager was transported to the Asotin County Jail, where she was booked for possession of a stolen vehicle. According to the court filing, the vehicle owner later confirmed that Rager and him had previously been in a relationship but had been separated for over two years.
