Dump Truck Crash in White Salmon River Triggers Environmental Response

KLICKITAT COUNTY, WA – The Washington Department of Ecology is responding to a crash involving a dump truck that left State Route 141A and went into the White Salmon River just north of SR 14.

According to officials, the truck is believed to be leaking diesel fuel and asphalt into the river. The volume of the spill is currently unknown, and environmental crews are assessing the potential impact to the waterway and surrounding habitat.

Contractors have been secured to assist with both the cleanup of the spill and the recovery of the vehicle from the river. Efforts are underway to contain the release and prevent further contamination.

The Department of Ecology remains on scene and continues to coordinate with other agencies to monitor the situation and guide the environmental response.
