PULLMAN, WA – The Pullman School Board has approved an agreement to sell the aquatic and fitness center to Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories.

In March the Pullman based global company and its Founder Dr. Ed Schweitzer offered to buy the indoor pool and continue operating it as a public facility. The Pullman Aquatic and Fitness Center was built 25 years ago thanks to a gift from the Schweitzer Family. The Pullman School District owns the pool and it’s operated by the City of Pullman.

Issues with the pool have surfaced in the last year involving costs and needed upgrades. Dr. Schweitzer made a 1.2 million dollar offer for the pool during his public announcement of the plan back in March. The proposal also calls for SEL to upgrade and manage the facility.

The Pullman School Board approved a purchase and sale agreement regarding the aquatic center during a special meeting on Monday night.
