The issue was identified during routine laboratory testing by the company, which indicated potential Listeria contamination. As of the announcement date, no confirmed illnesses have been reported.
Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can cause listeriosis, a serious infection primarily affecting older adults, people with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women. Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, and gastrointestinal issues. In pregnant women, it can lead to miscarriage, stillbirth, or severe illness in newborns.
FSIS urges consumers not to eat the recalled products. Instead, they should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
