MASON COUNTY, WA — A fire truck was involved in a rollover crash early Saturday morning on State Route 102 while attempting to merge onto southbound U.S. Highway 101, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:55 a.m. when the red 2014 Freightliner fire truck experienced a mechanical failure while making a right-hand turn, causing the vehicle to lose control and overturn. The truck came to rest upside down in the northbound ditch.
Two firefighters were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash—a 34-year-old driver from Shelton and a 40-year-old passenger from Granite Falls. Neither were injured, and both were wearing seatbelts.
No other vehicles or individuals were involved. Drugs or alcohol were not factors in the crash. The vehicle was totaled. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
