WASHINGTON, D.C. – Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew N. Ferguson has officially designated July 2025 as “Made in the USA” Month, calling attention to the importance of accurate product labeling and the economic value of domestic manufacturing.
In a public statement, Ferguson stressed the FTC’s role in enforcing laws against deceptive claims related to U.S.-origin labeling. “It is important to protect Americans from deceptive advertising,” he stated, adding that clear labeling “provides consumers with confidence” that their purchases support American workers, manufacturers, and communities.
The chairman cited a recent poll indicating that 61% of Americans consider a product’s U.S. origin when making purchasing decisions. He emphasized that many Americans associate American-made goods with higher quality and greater environmental responsibility.
Ferguson also acknowledged that many products that could meet the “Made in the USA” standard are not advertised as such. To address this, the FTC has published a user-friendly online guide to help businesses comply with federal labeling standards.
“‘Made in the USA’ is not just a slogan,” Ferguson noted. “It’s a sign that a product truly connects us with the ingenuity, quality craftsmanship, and livelihood of our fellow citizens.”
The FTC continues to offer resources to both consumers and businesses to promote truthful advertising and support domestic economic growth. More information can be found at consumer.ftc.gov and reportfraud.ftc.gov.
