Lewiston Man Arrested for Felony Eluding After Late-Night Pursuit

LEWISTON, ID – A Lewiston man has been charged with felony eluding after allegedly fleeing from law enforcement during a high-speed incident late Tuesday night.

According to court documents filed in Nez Perce County, 20-year-old Jordan B. Tinney was arrested on July 8 following a brief pursuit through Lewiston neighborhoods that began around 11:34 p.m. He faces one felony charge of eluding a peace officer.

A Lewiston Police officer reported overhearing radio traffic from Asotin County about a vehicle eluding authorities. The suspect vehicle, a blue Honda Civic with a burned-out headlight, was later spotted near 7th Avenue and 5th Street. When the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle allegedly accelerated away, reaching speeds estimated at 55 to 65 mph in a 25 mph zone. The officer discontinued pursuit due to the vehicle’s reckless driving in a residential area.

The vehicle was later located parked outside a residence on 14th Avenue, where Tinney was found inside and taken into custody. According to the report, Tinney initially attempted to avoid detection by moving from the driver’s seat, but was ultimately identified as the sole occupant and arrested at the scene.

A resident told officers the car Tinney was driving did not belong to him and had been taken without permission. Although the vehicle’s owner was upset about the incident, they declined to pursue theft charges.

Investigators cited video footage, photos, and witness statements as evidence supporting the charge. The affidavit states that Tinney willfully fled law enforcement and drove at excessive speeds, creating a public safety hazard.

He is also facing misdemeanor charges for allegedly resisting and obstructing officers and contempt of court.

Tinney appeared in court on Wednesday.  Bond was set at $5,000.
