Remains Found in Power County Identified as Missing Spokane Woman

AMERICAN FALLS, ID – Human remains discovered in 2022 along the Fort Hall River have been identified as Lesiah Olivia Pickett, a woman reported missing from Spokane, Washington, according to the Power County Sheriff’s Office.

A fisherman located a human skull on July 30, 2022, prompting a response from the Fort Hall Police Department, FBI Pocatello Office, and Power County Coroner’s Office. A search of the area did not locate additional remains, and no signs of trauma were observed. The skull was sent to the Ada County Coroner’s Office and later submitted to the FBI Lab for DNA and anthropological analysis, which included 3D facial approximation images.

In April 2024, the Idaho State Police Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) Team contacted Power County officials and offered to assist in identifying the remains. By May 2025, the skull was entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs), leading to two possible matches. One was ruled out through DNA comparison, and the other was confirmed through dental records.

NamUs confirmed the identification on June 26, 2025. Records show that Pickett had been seen in American Falls on October 4, 2019, and later in Pocatello on October 20, 2019. She was known to be transient and had previously been in Ogden, Utah.

The investigation involved multiple agencies, including the Power County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho State Police SAKI Team, FBI, Fort Hall Police, NamUs, Pocatello Police, and Spokane Police Department.

Authorities are now asking anyone with information about Pickett’s whereabouts after October 20, 2019, or possible places she may have stayed in southeast Idaho or surrounding areas, to contact the Power County Sheriff’s Office at (208) 226-2311.

The case remains under investigation.
