HAMMETT, ID — A Meridian man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly pointing a firearm at another driver on Interstate 84 near Hammett, according to the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched around 4:07 p.m. on July 8 to a report of a road rage incident involving a weapon near milepost 113 westbound, approximately one mile west of Hammett. The victim, who was not injured, provided a detailed description of the suspect, the vehicle, and the firearm.
Elmore County deputies located the suspect’s vehicle at milepost 74 on I-84 westbound and conducted a traffic stop. Deputies identified the driver as Lance Dunlap of Meridian and discovered a loaded firearm during a consent search of the vehicle. Dunlap was taken into custody without incident and charged with aggravated assault.
No other injuries or property damage have been reported. The investigation is ongoing, and the sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information to contact them at (208) 587-2100.
