Lewiston Levee Parkway Confluence Parking and Restrooms Closed Until Further Notice

LEWISTON, ID – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Walla Walla District has closed the confluence parking area and restrooms near D Street and the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center along the Lewiston Levee Parkway, citing ongoing resource constraints.

The closure is part of a broader effort by the district to reallocate limited staff and resources to priority areas across its project sites. In a release dated April 24, the USACE announced that multiple recreation areas across the region would be temporarily closed due to staffing limitations linked to a delayed resignation program and a federal hiring freeze.

A representative from the Corps confirmed that the walking bridge near the confluence area is associated with this closure.

“These closures are guided by the need to concentrate available resources, including personnel, where they are most impactful,” said Dylan Peters, Public Affairs Specialist for the Walla Walla District. “They will remain in place until further notice.”

In addition to the Lewiston confluence site, other closures include recreation areas at Ice Harbor, Little Goose, and Lower Granite dams, among others.
