OROFINO, ID – On the afternoon of July 13, 2025, the Orofino Fire Department responded to a motor home fire that ultimately destroyed both a motor home and a neighboring RV.
According to officials, the motor home’s brakes caught fire while driving. The driver pulled over, but the fire quickly spread to an RV parked nearby. Despite firefighting efforts, both vehicles were declared total losses.
The Orofino Fire Department was assisted at the scene by Twin Ridge Fire Department and the Clearwater-Potlatch Timber Protective Association (CPTPA), along with support from the Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office and Orofino Police Department.
Authorities issued a reminder to the public about the importance of regular vehicle maintenance, especially during extreme heat, noting that fires can ignite from unexpected sources.
