PULLMAN, WA – After nearly four decades of service, Steve Febus, Chief Financial Officer of Pullman Regional Hospital, will retire in January 2026. His tenure marks 38 years of dedication to the hospital and the Pullman community.
Febus began his journey at the hospital in 1983, shortly after arriving in Pullman with his wife, Meridee, who was pursuing a pharmacy degree at Washington State University. He earned his BA in Business Administration and Accounting from WSU in 1987 and soon found a place in the hospital’s finance department.
Starting in accounting and payroll, Febus advanced through several roles, including Controller and Director of Revenue Cycle and Fiscal, before being named CFO. He played a significant role in the hospital’s transformation, including its relocation to a new facility, development of capital projects, and expansion into a network of clinics and physicians.
“Steve’s contributions to our hospital, our community, and the healthcare industry at large are beyond words—nothing short of remarkable,” said Matt Forge, CEO of Pullman Regional Hospital. “Widely regarded as one of the top CFOs in the state for almost four decades, Steve has been a steady, strategic financial leader.”
Febus was known for his collaborative leadership style and commitment to fiscal responsibility. Colleagues credited him with fostering a culture of integrity, transparency, and mentorship.
Looking ahead, Febus plans to spend more time with his family while exploring opportunities to consult or volunteer in support of rural healthcare systems.
Pullman Regional Hospital is partnering with a recruiting firm to conduct a nationwide search for Febus’s successor, with plans to fill the CFO position by late 2025.
