Late-Night Fire Burns Outside Storage Area Behind Eagle Transfer in Lewiston

LEWISTON, ID – Lewiston Fire Department responded late Monday night to a large outside fire involving a variety of materials behind Eagle Transfer, located across from 704 29th Street North.

The fire was reported around 11:58 p.m. and was initially described as a grass fire by Lewiston Police. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered flames had spread to an extensive outside storage area containing grass, vehicles, campers, tires, pallets, and other materials.

Crews used handlines, deck guns, and ground monitors to attack the fire, which burned across a wide area. Suppression efforts continued into the early morning hours, with units returning to service around 5:00 a.m. A brush truck remained on fire watch until approximately 11:00 a.m., when the property owner brought in equipment to help dismantle vehicle and material piles for complete extinguishment.

The response included three engines, three medic units, and three command vehicles with 19 Lewiston firefighters. Mutual aid was provided by the Clarkston Fire Department, Asotin County Fire District 1, Wheatland Fire, and Lewiston Police.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
