Man Killed in Spokane Electric Scooter Accident

SPOKANE, WA – A man died early Saturday morning in Spokane following a collision involving an electric scooter and a semi-truck on Division Street near Dalton Avenue, according to the Spokane Police Department.

The incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. on July 19, 2025. Police say two adult males were riding an electric scooter northbound on the sidewalk. During the ride, the rear passenger lost his balance and fell into the roadway. The male operating the scooter fell in the opposite direction, back toward the sidewalk.

As the passenger fell into the street, he was struck by a semi-truck traveling north on Division. The driver of the semi stopped and attempted to render aid. Spokane police officers and Spokane Fire personnel also attempted life-saving measures, but the man died at the scene.

The driver of the semi-truck was cooperative with law enforcement and showed no signs of impairment. The area was closed for several hours while the investigation was underway.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased at a later time.
