LEWISTON, ID – The Nez Perce County Road and Bridge Department has been selected for a top honor in the 2025 Idaho Build a Better Mousetrap competition, hosted by the Local Highway Technical Assistance Council (LHTAC).
The department received the Team Award for its project titled Mitigation of Hazards, one of three statewide winners recognized this year. The award celebrates creative, practical solutions developed by local road agencies that improve safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in transportation maintenance and operations.
A representative from LHTAC will formally present the award during the Nez Perce County Board of County Commissioners’ regular public agenda session on Monday, August 4, 2025.
In addition to state-level recognition, Nez Perce County’s innovation will now advance to the National Build a Better Mousetrap Competition, where it will compete against similar entries from across the country. The national contest, organized by the Federal Highway Administration, highlights successful local innovations in road and bridge work.
Other 2025 Idaho awardees include:
- City of Rupert for its Community Outreach efforts (Individual Award)
- Highway District 4 for Stop Sign Safety improvements (Individual Award)
