BIG TIMBER, MT — A man wanted in connection with a deadly June shooting in Idaho Falls has been arrested in Montana following a pursuit and brief foot chase, according to the Sweet Grass County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities identified the suspect as 30-year-old Jarrod Thomas Sisneros, who was wanted on two felony warrants, including one tied to a homicide investigation in Bonneville County, Idaho. Sisneros was located Tuesday morning in Sweet Grass County after a local resident reported his vehicle parked near Big Timber Canyon Road.
Deputies attempted surveillance, but Sisneros fled in an SUV. The vehicle later broke down, prompting Sisneros to flee on foot. Deputies pursued him and deployed a Taser, successfully taking him into custody. He is now being held without bond at the Gallatin County Detention Center, awaiting an initial appearance and extradition proceedings to return to Idaho.
The homicide investigation stems from a June 23 incident in which 34-year-old Daniel William Leary was found with a gunshot wound on North River Road near the West Snake River Boat Ramp outside Idaho Falls. Despite emergency response, Leary later died at the hospital.
